Coupeville is a very unique community located in the heart of Ebey’s Landing National Historic Reserve in Central Whidbey Island. It is warm and friendly, full of history and tradition. Photograph by Rick Lawler It is the Island County Seat, and our scenic beauty is second to none!  Coupeville is only 10 miles from Oak Harbor and an ideal location for families from NAS Whidbey Island.  We have excellent schools, hospital, restaurants and shops, low crime, community theatre, an Art School, great Farmers Market, Festivals, Parades and Events to keep you busy year round.

We have easy access to the mainland and the Olympic Peninsula with two Ferry Terminals on the Island and to the north the Deception Pass Bridge.   Our Town has a population base of approximately 1,900 and is a great place to retire or raise a family, while also enjoying a relaxed and fulfilling lifestyle in an amazingly beautiful setting.

Our climate is mild, with annual rainfall of 21" and daytime temperatures averaging in the mid 30’s- 40s during the winter and 70s in the summer. On average there are 161 sunny days per year.

The school system is excellent. The district consists of one elementary school, a middle school, a high school, pre-school and kindergarten classes.

Coupeville and Central Whidbey have an abundance of trails perfect for running, hiking and mountain biking. You can enjoy wonderful scenic views of Ebey’s Prairie, the Olympic Peninsula, Penn Cove and more.  We are bordered by two State Parks, Fort Casey with Admiralty Head Lighthouse, and Fort Ebey.   From the Coupeville Wharf you can Kayak around Penn Cove.

Housing is available in a wide variety of price points.  Property taxes are moderate and the local sales tax is 8.75%.

Experience Coupeville!  You won’t be disappointed.
